Dr. Lawrence Martin was born in the East but raised in Illinois. His undergraduate education was at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, and he is grateful for the excellent liberal arts and sciences and pre-medical education he received. In 2004, he was inducted into The Centurion Society, which was created by the Board of Trustees to honor outstanding Bradley Alumni for their career achievements in business, public life and the professions.

Medical school followed at the University of Illinois in Chicago (1970) when it was the only site for medical students within the University system. Two very influential years at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado included a year of internship and a year of general surgery residency. Dr. Martin returned to the University of Illinois in Chicago in 1972 to further his training by completing a residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery (1975). Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery was a major portion of the residency with excellent supervision and teaching from well-known physicians.

Board Certification in ENT-Head & Neck Surgery was achieved in 1975, and when the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery was established in 1986, Dr. Martin became board certified in 1992.
